I went up the river again with Bill Kidd June 7 to see the osprey nest. At the marina we discovered that cliff swallows were busy building mud nests under the roof! I took several photos but it was a challenge because of light under the beam hitting the lens and because it was dark under the roof. Bill used his spotlight to light up the nests for some of the photos.
We then left the marina about 5:30 and went to the osprey nest. I am fairly certain there are 3 chicks in the nest. Papa flew in with fish twice! Then sat in a tree and kept watch. They were all panting because it was hot, around 90 degrees. I hope they make it when it really gets hot and humid. We went that day because the humidity was low.
We came upon Bill's son Ed fishing for catfish and he had a stringer full!
(The last 2 photos were made another day at the lock and dam.)
