(The Meigs Falls waterfall and next photo are located on River Road between Townsend and Gatlinburg TN which was on our way to Roaring Fork.)

Roaring Fork is a stream in the Smoky Mountains near Gatlinburg. The 6 mile one-way trail winds through cove hardwoods and old growth forest. The latter part which is the old roadbed follows along the Fork which can vary from a trickle during dry weather to raging whitewater rapids after a rain. The sound of the stream is amplified by the surrounding mountain ridges, hence the name Roaring Fork. It was roaring a bit when we were there.
