It was a beautiful day to visit the Refuge! I didn't see an eagle but they have been seen recently in the 2009 nest tree and one was seen by a friend in another location before we got there. We saw hundreds of cormorants, a few herons and egrets and small birds. The new boardwalk which is 500 ft. long at the southwest edge of Bluff Lake offers great views of the cypress trees and wildlife! I included a few scenic shots of the cypress trees and the view from Morgan Hill which overlooks Lake Loakfoma which was drained a couple of year ago to kill invasive plants and has not filled up yet.
